Assistant Media planner

Job Responsibilities



Summary

Assist in the development and stewardship of all communications plans as well as other initiatives. Develop buying guidelines for various implementation groups. Begin to develop knowledge in both agency services and industry trends.



Responsibilities

Plan Development

Compile and analyze marketing and media data.

Search for unique sources of information to support non-traditional recommendations.

Assist in the preparation and rationale of media recommendations and annual plan presentations.



Plan Maintenance

Order newspaper and magazine space.

Prepare broadcast buy specifications.

Accommodate the purchase of non-traditional media, if necessary.

Assist Media Planner in establishing purchasing guidelines for media.



Media Account Management

Analyze plan performance, i.e. post-buys, positioning reports.

Negotiate makegoods.

Maintain and update plans / budgets on a regular basis.

Maintain vendor information files.

Coordinate added value.

Obtain information based on requests from Account Management and supervisors.

Monitor competitive advertising and compile spending data.

Provide media points-of-view.

Prepare weekly status reports and attend status meetings.

Work with Accounting to resolve billing issues.



Professional Development

Attend media presentation internally and outside the Agency.

Meet with sales representatives and vendors.

Keep abreast of industry trends through trade journals, industry workshops / seminars and track current events.

Complete MEC’s media school.

Take the initiative to attend and follow meetings as appropriate.

Master the latest computer software used for Agency and planning functions.
